Re-elect Meagan Trush as Vice President, Organization of the Ontario Liberal Party
Active party member since 2011 with roles on dozens of campaigns across Ontario
Lived across Ontario from Thunder Bay to Toronto to Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock
Professional experience building diverse coalitions around shared goals
I am excited to be running for re-election as VP Org of the Ontario Liberal Party at the 2025 Annual General Meeting. I have volunteered extensively with the party over the years, held issues and stakeholder roles in previous Liberal governments, and in my current job build diverse coalitions around shared goals at a university-based research center.
I've visited almost every riding in Ontario (Renfrew-Nippising-Pembroke remains outstanding), lived in Thunder Bay, several Toronto ridings, and now call beautiful Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock home, all of which has left me with a deep appreciation the regional differences in our province and how we as a party need to organize to defeat the Tories.
My approach to organization blends team and relationship building, with rolling up my sleeves and getting things done, and I look forward to working with the rest of the OLP team to do just that.
It's an exciting time to be an Ontario Liberal –for the first time in a while, we have upward momentum. The ground we gained in the 2025 election means we are financially and politically in better shape now than a year ago.
But there is still so much work to do in the next 3.5 years to present a credible and competent alternative to the disrepair and dysfunction that years of a PC government has left Ontario with. I am eager to continue to be part of the team that re-energizes the grassroots, builds strategies to strengthen local campaign capacity, and helps to ensure we give the PCs and the NDP a fight in every single riding.
I know our existing campaign tools inside and out, and am always looking for new and better ways to do things —mailing systems, event‑planning checklists, direct‑mail tactics, even basic graphic‑design tools. Whether setting up a new Mailchimp account, getting buttons made for a pre-writ canvass, or coaching your team on designing an ad for the local paper, I have the technical skills and vendor knowledge to create organizing templates, and help local teams meet their goals.
Teams thrive when everyone knows the goal, how we get there, and their individual role in the process. I create inclusive, user‑friendly templates and step‑by-step process guides—so whether you’re a first‑time organizer or a seasoned veteran, it’s easy to pitch in and deliver results together.
We know from GOTV that people are more likely to do something (vote, for instance) if they get a call from someone they know. Having been active in the Ontario Liberal Party for almost 15 years, I’ve built—and continue to expand—a trusted web of relationships at every level and in every region. If re-elected as VP Organization, I’ll put that network to work for you—navigating party processes, mitigating sticky challenges, and knowing exactly who to call (and having them on speed dial) to get things done efficiently.
With thousands of hours spent canvassing, phone‑banking, and fundraising for the OLP, I understand the on‑the‑ground essentials. I love helping to build capacity in new teams, sharing best practices, and building sustainable canvassing and fundraising programs that grow stronger every election cycle.
In my day job, I build coalitions across diverse communities—including women, Black and racialized people, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and Indigenous partners. I bring that same commitment to listening and learning to our party work, helping riding associations forge genuine, long‑lasting relationships with all constituents.
We have 3½ years to prepare to give Doug Ford hell in 124 ridings. That means active executives, trained volunteers, and money in the bank. In collaboration with OLP and caucus office teams, I’m building a clear framework for measuring riding health—and the tools and resources each association needs to be election‑ready.
The sooner we secure our candidates, the better. Having a local candidate nominated gives much-needed momentum to identifying support, recruiting volunteers, and fundraising. As past Candidate Vetting Co‑Chair, I know the nomination process inside and out, and can work with RVPs and associations to get nomination plans and meetings underway—provided we’re not in a leadership race, which could push our timeline back 12–18 months.
Commissions play a vital role in bringing in new members, backing local candidates, and ensuring that the voices of different demographics are heard within our party. I will partner with each Commission to advance their priorities and make sure the OLP we’re building together reflects the needs and objectives of our membership.
